There’s always something happening throughout the summer at The Ionian Beach Hotel and we are constantly busy organising new and exciting events, themed evenings and fun entertainments. REGULAR (WEEKLY) EVENTS
Traditional Greek Dancing Evening
Thursday Evenings throughout July & August: Join us on our weekly quest to perfect the art of traditional Greek dancing and teach our guests a step or two in the process. Lively Greek music, dancing, and high holiday spirits are a perfect combination for a wonderful evening! Always great fun for all the family and often very ‘tongue in cheek’, Greek folk, traditional, and popular music is performed by professional local musicians whilst a heady mixture of enthusiastic local officianados and polished Greek Dance Troupes demonstrate the most popular dances. Audience participation is always assured and gentle Greek dancing tuition is offered to those unfamiliar with the steps.
Saturday Night is ‘Chill-Out’ Party Night
Saturday Evenings throughout May to September: Saturday is always one of our busiest days on the beach and it’s also the most popular day for new arrivals at the hotel. What better excuse for a party! So, dust off your sequined boob-tube, polish those dancing shoes and get ready to ‘get on down’ to the Ionian Beach’s favourite beats! It may be less popular than ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, less infectious than Saturday Night Fever’ and it’s certainly not at all like ‘Dirty Dancing’, but it’s exactly what you need to get your holiday toes twinkling, it’s somewhere to let your hair down (whatever your age!) and it’s definitely the coolest ‘chill-out’ party this side of the Peloponnese.
Jeux Sans Frontieres
Tuesdays throughout May to September: With our ’sporty’ international clientele, our fabulous location and facilities and our penchant for ‘wacky’ competitions, it would be churlish indeed if we didn’t at least encourage a little friendly inter-European and inter-family rivalry. From dinghy regattas to windsurfing races, tennis tournaments to darts matches, mini-golf to beach volleyball, or table tennis, backgammon, scrabble and giant chess, the emphasis is on fun and there’s always a twist! It’s a team sports day with a difference and there are prizes and reputations at stake. May the best team win!
Olympia Excursion
Wednesdays throughout May to September: If you’re keen to find out more about Greece and the Greeks, why not tavel back in time to the very first Olympics on this fabulous half-day excursion by taxi or minibus. Ancient Olympia is the birth place of the Olympics and is where the torch is still lit before being carried on its four year journey to where the games will next be held. Visit the ancient temple ruins and acropolis with guided tours and discover some of the many artifacts in its famous Olympic Museum.
Patras Wine Tasting Excursion
Fridays throughout May to September: The Peloponnese produces some exciting and truly Greek styles of wine although it is mainly devoted to white wine. Patras, historically, is associated with one of the best sweet Greek wines, Mavrodaphne. It can also produce some very aromatic and full, dry red wines. This half-day excursion by taxi or minibus is to the nearby ‘Achaia Claus’ vineyard in the hills above Patras and features a tour of its cellars and a wine tasting with the possibility of buying wine as well as a brief spin around the city of Patras itself.
